A must for all visitors, The Orphanage for elephants, run by the zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka Provides a home for over fifty Elephants. They comprise of a range from newborn babies to grand parents. This institute was founded in the year 1975 with three-abandoned baby Elephants and today one of them is a Grand Ma. These majestic animals are never sold or put into any Commercial use. but are kept and cared for,In this institute for the rest of their Life.
